Julia Meinwald
 
Julia Meinwald is a composer who has worked extensively in music for film, dance, and theatre. Collaborating with talented artists from around the East Coast, her songs have been heard at the New Georges Theatre (NY, NY), Goodspeed Opera House (East Haddam, CT), Barrington Stages (Great Barrington, MA), Yale Repertory (New Haven, CT), and The Hangar Theatre (Ithaca, NY.) Working with the Tze Chun Dance Company, Julia’s music was heard as part of Dance New Amsterdam’s Raw Materials series this fall, and her ballet Three Dreams was read by Yale University’s Saybrook Orchestra in the spring of 2005. Her first musical, All Sales Final, premiered at Orange Tree Theatre Company in 2001. Favorite scores include Pink and Blue with the NYC based production company The Complications, and the music for the acclaimed computer game Jessica Plunkenstein and the Dusseldorf Conspiracy. Julia’s two one-act musicals, What Happens Here and Soon Never, were read at NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Program, where she also developed a full-length musical, Shelter, with lyricist Rob Shapiro. Julia is a member of ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild, and the 2005 recipient of the Shen Prize in musical theatre. She received her BA in Music from Yale University in 2005, and her M.F.A from NYU Tisch’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program in 2007.
