I'm working with choreographer Michelle Thompson Ulerich on a new dance piece for the Spark Collective. While I've written a few things for dance before, this is my first experience with this process. We talked about what the piece would be about on a broad level in terms of topic, tone, etc, then I set off to write the music, and now Michelle is making a dance to the piece I wrote. This behind the scenes event was my first time seeing what they are working on, and oh boy is it exciting. Our piece, The Always Puzzle of Changing, was one of six featured, all of which will be programmed in their upcoming Collections of Change -- tickets go on sale September 1st!
Last week Gordon and I packed our passports and headed to Windsor, Canada to see a production of Pregnancy Pact. The show was produced by The Edge Productions, and it was performed at The Rondo, a cool live music bar type space that had a lovely intimate, grounded feel to it. It was such an honor to meet the talented group that put on the show, and really moving to be in the audience for a production that happened entirely independently from us. Plus we got this cool selfie with the posters for the show.
Gordon and I are so excited about the Canadian premiere of our musical Pregnancy Pact put on by The Edge Productions.
My friend Vira from college invited me to be part of this rad event on August 10th! Excited to chat about all things music composition and enjoy some light bites.
