Gordon and I are so excited to be recipients of a grant from the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust! The money will go to/went towards recording demos for The Magnificent Seven!
I'll use my little website blog pulpit to vent my overwhelming gratitude for the people I was lucky enough to spend so much time with over this past month developing REB+VoDKA+ME at NYU's Sew Studio on Broadway. The cast redefined my expectations (to use corporate end-of-year-review lingo) with their seemingly endless well of energy, and talent and their rare blend of critical thinking and openness to new material. Watching them invest themselves in this show has been moving and humbling. This past week in tech (is it too soon/late to insert a joke about that line from Smash??), though stressful, has been tempered by watching our designers work miracles, creating effects that feel downright magic even in a comically limited amount of time. I will never fully be able to understand how our wonderful dramaturg Megan McClain, choreographer Tara Forseth, music director Rich Silverstein, and director Ben Kamine have so completely internalized our work and made it theirs too, but I am so grateful that they have. And, of course, I want to keep creating pools of memory light with Gordon forever and ever and ever. Being alive has never felt weirder or better.

Bring on puns about perfect tens and gold medals -- I'm over the moon with our brand new Magnificent Seven demos featuring the singing talents of Ally Bonino, Emily Jenda, Caitlin Kinnunen, Marina Kondo, Amy Linden Peters, Ellen Macy, and Emily Walton and the banding talents of Carl Limbacher, Geremy Schulick, Rich Silverstein, and Jeremy Yaddow. Engineered and mixed by the wonderful Chris Gilroy.
The past two weeks I've been in a sustained state of rapture working with amazing students at NYU's New Studio on Broadway on our workshop of REB + VoDKa + ME. This cast is so talented and so game, and it's been thrilling to hear them give voice to a whole bunch of brand new material for the show. We're also so excited to see our director Ben and our choreographer Tara work with the cast to develop a physical language for the show. I'll post info on how to get tickets as soon as I have it -- so very excited to put this out in the world! We've got videos from our Elevator Heart concert at The Tank last month! Check out Ally Bonino and the rest of our wonderful cast performing A Letter for Bidya! |
